Head Coach Jacob Thompson is entering his 3rd year at the helm of the Georgia Bulldogs. Thompson Signed a 3 year contract with the Bulldogs and then Athletic Director Kent Davison who is currently the Conference USA Commissioner. in 2010 Davison gave Thompson his first shot at becoming a Varsity Head Coach. " I wouldn't have wanted to start it anywhere else". said Thompson. Thompson began his carrer off in 2007 at Bradley University for 1 season under current Florida State Head Coach, Asa Stevenson. Thompson served as the Junior Varsity Head Coach. In 2008 Thompson followed Coach Asa Stevenson to the University of Illinois where he served as a Varsity Assistant Coach. In 2009 Coach Stevenson left Illinois to become the next Head Varsity Coach at the University of Tennessee. Thompson decided to go his own way and made a what turned out to be a quick return to the colligent game as he served as the Associate Head Coach for the Miami Heat under Coach Mike Taylor. Taylor was fired in the middle of the season when the Heat fell to 7-20. Thomson then sereved as the Interim Head Coach for the Heat and fell just short of make the playoffs with a finishing record of 42-42. As the doors opened with offers in 2010 Thompson Signed with Georgia, and as a first year Head Coach took the Bulldogs to a 33-4 record Winning the SEC Conference title and naming four Bulldogs to National Level Awards including 2010 MWCL National Playor of the Year Chasson Randle, who was the first Freshman to win the award since the league started in 2002. Georgia ended the "fairy tail season" falling short to Kansas in the MWCL NCAA National Championship Game. In 2011 the Bulldogs didn't let up and continued their success under Jacob Thompson as they ended their run with a 31-7 Record and a Elite-Eight finish. After the 2011 season Thompson was voted to become the next MWCL USA Olympic Basketball Teams Head Coach. Thompson will be with USA at the conclussion of the 2013 and 2014 seasons. In 2012 Thompson decided to take a year off, but is back for some more Bulldog Basketball in 2013!!!!
